was born in Southeast Louisiana right after World War II. When he was six, his parents moved to Texas where he grew up and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1968 and his Master of Science in Chemistry in 1970. During his tenure at Trinity University, Dr. Chihal married his wife, Janie, who also received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biology. They left San Antonio for Madison, Wisconsin to study for their doctorates.
they moved again to New Orleans for Janie to enter an M.D./ Ph.D. program at LSU while David completed his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the University of New Orleans in 1975. After working for a year as a postdoctoral fellow in Pharmacology at Tulane Medical School, Dr. Chihal made the decision to enter medical school. He graduated from LSU Medical School in 1979, completed a surgical internship at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in 1981, finished his Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery residency at LSU in 1984 and became board certified in 1985.
moved to Carrollton in 1985 and began practicing at Trinity Medical Center (now Baylor Medical Center at Carrollton). David set up a solo practice in Otolaryngology and Janie established her practice in Gynecology/ Reproductive Endocrinology. They reared their three children in Carrollton while remaining very active on the medical staff at Trinity Hospital. Dr. David Chihal has held many medical staff positions including Chairman of Surgery, President of the Medical Staff and Member and Chairman of the Governing Board.
has always been in solo practice until 2008 when he selected Dr. Nicole Bryan as his new partner. Together they formed Chihal ENT Associates PA. For the foreseeable future, Dr. Chihal plans to continue practicing the medical specialty he loves in Carrollton, the community that has been his home for over 20 years.
grew up in Carrollton where she graduated from Newman Smith High School. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Genetic Epidemiology from the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston. While in Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society, and received the Wallace McNutt Award for highest achievement in Gross Anatomy and Embryology. She was also a recipient of a Metrocrest Hospital Authority Scholarship from 1999-2003. Dr. Bryan completed her formal training with a five year residency in Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque and was board certified in Otolaryngology in 2009.
is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Denton County Medical Society. A member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology since 2004 and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, she also served on the Denton County Heath Advisory Board.
Dr. Michael Bryan, while they were both residents in Albuquerque. Mike graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha and completed a residency in General Surgery in Albuquerque. He completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery and joined Surgical Associates of the Mid-Cities practicing in Grapevine and Bedford. Mike and Nicole welcomed their son, Devon, into their family in December, 2009. The three of them share their home with two rescue dogs August and Rena. Her parents, Bruce and Patty Larson, have lived and been active in Carrollton since 1972. Her sister, Michele Larson, is Director of Administration for Crane Worldwide Logistics in Houston.
to the practice, they have formed Chihal ENT Associates in an effort to provide increased availability of Otolaryngic services to Carrollton and surrounding areas. Dr. Chihal and Dr. Bryan share very similar philosophies about patient care and the practice of medicine. Simply stated, the patient comes first and quality, compassionate medical care is their top priority.
